A Nationwide History Conference with Dick B.
by: Dick B.

Delighted to see this network and the opportunity is presents. We hope your readers will take an interest in "A Nationwide Recovery Conference with Dick B."

The title is "A New Way Out."

The theme is "We Christians in the recovery arena are not alone." There will be a special open meeting before the conference held by the James Club of Norco, California where I will be speaking in the sanctuary of New Beginnings Church.

This will be Thursday, May 14th. The actual conference opens on Friday, May 15th at 2:30 PM.

It will be held at the Mariners Church Community Center in Irvine, California. The first day will be a workshop. The second day (Saturday, May 16th) will have a large number of speaker-presenters as well as historical exhibits, music, and other features.

The conference is detailed at the Conference website: http://www.ANewWayOut.com.
We will welcome all who come to learn about the early Christian roots of A.A., the problems encountered today, how they are being resolved, and how the early history can be used today as "A New Way Out" whether the afflicted are in A.A., church, 12 Step fellowships, prison, homeless situations, rehabs, treatment, or therapy. A.A. And Big Book Is The Bible For Addiction
by: Steve L.

This article was wonderful. I love it when the true foundation of A.A. is talked about.

Without the spiritual principles of the A.A. program, I feel it would be just another self-help program.

For me, I need a power greater than myself to keep me sober. I admit I can’t stay sober on my own. I am too weak. However, I am willing to put my life in the hands of a power greater than myself. That power is God.

I believe it has been God holding the A.A. program together all these years. People, myself included, have a great capacity to screw up a good thing. With people coming from all walks of life and a variety of personalities, it is a wonder we haven't destroyed the program and ourselves. God would not allow it. It was in His control, not ours.

The A.A. program and the Big Book truly is the Bible of addiction, in my opinion. Also, something I learned from the article was I never knew that the early founders used the book of James in the Bible to form the steps of A.A. And they were even going to call it "The James Group."

Wow, great history lesson and great information.
